Fried Rice and Noodles in Tanunda: Our Asian Buffet Plates

Our Asian-style buffet plate is the build-it-your-way part of the menu: pick a side of fried rice, fried noodles or steamed rice, then add your choices. The Hungry Plate is $18 for 1 side and 1 choice, and the Starving Plate is $25 for 1 side and 3 choices. You will find us at Shop 3, 1A Para Road, Tanunda, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm.
Bánh mì gets most of the attention on our menu, but plenty of regulars walk in for a plate of fried rice or noodles and never look at anything else. Here is how the buffet plates work, and how to get the most out of one.
How the buffet plate works
- Pick your plate. Hungry ($18) for 1 side and 1 choice, or Starving ($25) for 1 side and 3 choices.
- Pick your side: fried rice, fried noodles or steamed rice.
- Pick your choices from what is on at the counter that day. Ask us what is on and we will talk you through it.
- Eat in or take it with you. There is seating inside and outdoor seating too, or we will pack it up to go.
Prices are from our current menu and are subject to change without notice. Everything is made fresh to order, so allow a few minutes.
Fried rice, fried noodles or steamed rice?
- Fried rice is cooked rice tossed through a hot wok with vegetables, like the peas, carrot and spring onion in the photo above. It is the side most people grab first, and it is filling on its own.
- Fried noodles are the pick if you want something a bit more slurpable. They are a good match for a crispy or saucy choice.
- Steamed rice is the plain option. It lets your choices do the talking and soaks up any sauce.
Can't decide? Go the Starving Plate and spread your three choices across different flavours, so every mouthful is a little different.

Is this Chinese food?
People often search for Chinese food in Tanunda and find us. We are a Vietnamese and South East Asian kitchen rather than a Chinese restaurant, which is why it says South East Asian Cuisine & More under our name. A few favourites cross over, though. Fried rice and fried noodles are cooked right across East and South East Asia, and our spring rolls and pork dimmies sit happily on the same plate. Our dim sim guide explains where the Aussie dimmy came from.
What to add
A buffet plate is a full meal, but these are the extras people add at the counter:
- Spring rolls, $3 each.
- Pork dimmies, fried or steamed, $3 each.
- Vietnamese pork meatballs, $5 a stick.
- Vietnamese iced coffee, $6.50, or a can from the fridge.
Want something lighter instead? Our guide to cold rolls, sticky rice and salad bowls covers the fresher side of the menu.
Feeding a crew
Buffet plates are an easy order for a work crew, because everyone picks their own side and choices. For a bigger order, ring us on 0426 288 098 early in the day so we can have it ready when you arrive. Our takeaway lunch guide explains how ringing ahead works, and for functions and events, see our Barossa catering guide.
Vegetarian, gluten free and allergies
If you don't eat meat, ask us which choices are vegetarian on the day, and remember there are vegetarian rolls, salad bowls, sticky rice and cold rolls on the menu too. The Better Health Channel lists rice of all types and rice noodles as gluten free, but sauces and what goes on top vary. If you need gluten free or have a food allergy, ring us on 0426 288 098 before you order and we will tell you honestly what suits.
